GMI Raises Money For A Local Hospital

GMI employees, friends and family participated in the Hopebuilders 5K run/walk to help raise money for the new Levine Childrens Hospital at Carolinas Medical Center on Saturday October 13, 2007. The Levine Childrens Hospital is one of the three largest childrens hospitals in the Southeast and the largest between Atlanta and D.C.

GMI had about 25 participants and contributors. In addition, the company matched all employee entry fees. GMI plans to raise money and participate in more upcoming local events to support our local healthcare facilities. Our next event will be The Cupid’s Cup in February to support Carolinas Medical Center’s Cardiovascular Health and Rehabilitation Fund. These events are a great way to get the company working as a team to support the community.

GMI Supports Community Cardiovascular Center

GMI employees and friends participated in the Cupids Cup 5K run/walk on Saturday February 9th. The Cupid’s Cup 5K benefits Carolinas Medical Center’s Heart Institute and CMC’s Cardiovascular Health and Rehabilitation Fund. A significant portion of the money contributed by GMI will go towards providing financial assistance to patients in need as well as provide community education programs on promoting cardiovascular health.
The Cupid’s Cup is the second 5K that GMI has participated in. It has really encouraged employees to get out and do something healthy and active as well as support local healthcare programs. Since GMI’s first race in October, 2 employees have been motivated to quit smoking and a few have started training for other 5Ks and even a 10K. GMI hopes to continue to promote healthy lifestyles and support the community by participating in more local 5K’s throughout the year.
